i want to go to there
naomi (my sister-in-law) just posted this picture. this is where i grew up. good ol' franklin, pennsylvania. it's fall there (like, real fall). and it's applefest weekend. this is always a hard time for me to be away from "home." but this year it's just a little harder since i'm in the desert and there is absolutely nothing to hint toward it being fall here. except the pumpkin patch down the road and the thunder that woke me up from my nap today. it got me a little excited, but it's not enough.
i am homesick.
drat.
edited to add: come on, people. i already said i like it here (in las vegas), right? a girl can wish she was home (where she grew up, where the majority of her memories took place, where her family lives) one weekend a year, can't she? i didn't say i want to move there or live there or that i am unhappy here. geeze. and now i'll crawl back in my non-blogging hole ;)

Fall is my favorite! Maybe you could celebrate Oktoberfest? Either way, good thing you're baking with pumpkin today!
If I'd known what I was missing, all those Fall's not in PA, I would have felt the same way. I can't believe the Autumn here. If it weren't Sunday I'd go and buy you a jean-purse or a knitted-tea-cosy or something gross from Applefest to cheer you up. If it makes you feel any better, the guy who carves art out of stumps no longer participates in applefest. He died. That kind of turned into a more morbid comment than I expected, sorry. It is gorgeous around here though. By the way, just saw your senior yearbook - Prettiest Smile Liz Martin eh? Nice!
I am right there with you. I am sorry. Living in a tropical jungle is just making me so frustratingly homesick for a Maryland fall. Come the freezing winter I usually feel a little (tiny, tiny) bit better about it all. =) But, still...
Ugg I feel the same way!!! I hate the dessert:( I made pumpkin chocolate chip bread and turned the ac to 78 so I could wear a hoodie....
Know that others are homesick too.
I KNOW! I'm so happy to be back... though the leaves aren't as glorious this year. Hubs thinks it's because of some drought that I didn't notice. So the leaves are falling before they parade their brilliant colors.
WISH you were here too!
LTB says "Eewwww east coast..." blah blah blah. But secretly, you want it.
xoxo! think of the bright side, h and m AND yogurtland!!!!
I bought a pumpkin, carved it, baked the seeds, sprinkled the inside with cinnamon and nutmeg and lit a candle inside, and enjoyed my fabricated Fall for about six hours. I tried to not look outside for fear of being blinded by the Phoenix sun. Applefest... Are we ever going to see it again? Sounds like a lot of us are stranded in the desert.
Every time I asked LTB whether I should apply to jobs out east, her answer was, invariably, no.
