flashback friday

along with some other childhood memorabilia my mom sent out a while ago, was my old monchhichi doll. today i glued her hair back on for the umpteenth time (hair loss among the monchhichi population is a common occurrence. they are lucky enough, though, to be able to reapply their hair with the ease of a hot-glue gun-no minoxidil and transplants involved). after a little internet searching, i was pleasantly surprised to find out that the monchhichi species is still being produced and sold! nash and haven just might find their own under the christmas tree in a few months.

am i the only one who remembers these dolls? and could the monchhichi jingle be any more nostalgic and cheerful (+ cheesy)?

"i love you, monchhichi!"

as a retired thumbsucker, i appreciate the thumb-in-mouth feature. it fits so snuggly. oh, and the freckles... did i ever have one of these? or did mom only get you one?

hilarious! my sister used to sing that song to may because she thought she looked like one. thankfully she has grown out of that look.

remember you asked me about this and i was all like, what? the thing is, i totally had one. loved it. carried it around with my stuffed banana. but i never knew what it was called. oh memories. too bad i think my mom sold it in a garage sale a long, long, long time ago. sad. but true.

I don't remember these, but seeing as I am 3 years your junior, that's only natural :) Steve however had some version of this doll, it looks more like an ape though, he called it kinky, (his version of monkey) now Sam plays with it.

I had totally forgotten about those! Sweet! Thanks for the link to where they're sold, too.

The name is just fun to say. I don't really remember these but it looks familiar. Probably never got one...poor me. Love that they still make them.

Hey Liz- I tried to steal one of your photos for a blog about my baking skills (seriously I just made the ugliest muffins in the history of man). Could you email me something? Also, how do you set your pics so that I can't steal them? I want to do that so that people don't take pics of Hazel without my knowledge! julieorris at yahoo
