i think i'm like most people who have known about ikea's existence for more than a decade. i have a love/hate thing going on: i love it cause i can actually afford it and it's more stylish than most other cheap, assembly-required items out there. problem is, now that we have a local ikea, everyone knows what's from ikea and what isn't. all of the sudden my kramfors sofa is a dime-a-dozen (that's where the hate part comes in). so, you can imagine my excitement when i discovered the ikea hacker blog! that's right. it's a blog where ikea fanatics post their ikea modified creations, like the above entertainment unit. perfect for our new plasma!?!

Ah yes, the Ikea Hack Blog! Oh dear...don't get mad because I know this blog. Please! I'm like you - I loved knowing about Ikea and harboring it as my own little secret. Now that it's so close, I LOVE that I can go there anytime I want, but am sad that EVERYONE can also go there anytime they want. Sigh, tis a vicious cycle. My Dad loves buying things from Ikea and transforming them into his exact needs. You are so clever, I have no doubt that you will be able to make things for your new house and have people say, "Where did you find that piece?! It's GENIUS!" You heard me...genius.
OK, in case you check your blog before you check mine again, I don't think we know each other. I went to FHS (graduated in 94) I checked out your blog because there was a lizzy I went to school with who could have been a bontanist, but alas not you. Anyway, maiden name is sumosky if that gives you any more clue who I am. By the way, cute blog. Your little boy is adorable. And on the IKEA note I have the same issues with Pier One and Pottery Barn. Love it, but everyone knows it. Nice thing about where we live (the furniture capital of the U.S. - High Point, NC)
i'm with you on the pier one and pottery barn issues too...although i don't think pier one is quite as popular (and not nearly as expensive). i tend to love pier one, and most of the time people don't have a clue where i've gathered up my pier one purchases. ikea, on the other hand, can be spotted a mile away. argh....
O.K. so I went and found you in the year book. No, we didn't know each other. You graduated with my brother-in-law's nephew, Jeffrey Ward (not that I really know him), and my good friend, Johnny Strawbridge's little sister, Jenny. I knew a few people from '99, but not well, just by name and whatnot. Compared to you I am an "old" lady (31) ha! ha!
Yes, Mr. Greene would hate me to say this but he's been there a LONG time. I would venture to say he's been there since the 80's, but not sure when. Love his blog. One thing I miss so much about Franklin is his weekly article in the News-Herald.
