under contract

remember that couple that was thinking of putting in an offer on our house? well, they did-and for full asking price! hallelujiah! neither steve nor i are very good at negotiating. we're both a little soft. steve always buys junk from salesmen that come to our door. i can't walk past the salvation army collection guys without putting money in there. even if i donated on the way in. i guess, for the most part, these are good things, but when it comes to making much-needed money off the sale of our house so that we can make it through law school without loads of debt, being softies could have gotten us into some trouble. luckily, the couple's offer was for full asking price, so it was a done deal. now my HGTV-brain can get to work on colors and stuff for the new house. oh so exciting...still looking for those porch chairs, so if any of you hit up yard sales keep your eyes peeled!

Congrats! Buying and selling a house can be a total pain in the a** but it sounds like you guys pulled it off relatively hitch free. Good work.

Hoo-rah! How awesome, congrats! I can't wait to see what you do with your new house, I know it's going to look sweet. How soon do you move?

we close on the house we're selling on august 1st. then we just have to close on the house we're buying (hopefully we'll be ready so it's just a matter of signing stuff) a few days after that. stevie bevie starts school mid august, so we want to be sort of settled before that....but i won't be "settled" till everything is perfect, so probablly around christmas time!

I will be SO jealous if you are settled by Christmas! I've been here 4 years and I'm still waiting...

jewels- yes, well...we shall see. i know for sure i cannot live with the current bathroom for much more than a week. it is pink. and i mean PINK> the toilet, the sink, the tub, the walls. it's hideous. that was my one complaint which i told steve we absolutely have to fix the second we move it.

where do you live, anyway?

yay! i can't believe how much is going on...i am so sad not to be there and help with the re-construction of super-pink chaos! i would have loved to tear it up with you! how fun and crazy and amazing all of this is! i hope we make it back there soon so i can see the new place...so weird not to ever be going back to your little home. but yay for new house! we need to chat...i hate not knowing what's going on with you until you blog and i find out with the rest of the world...is that selfish of me? ha...yes. i'll get over it. i'm trying to blog more so in case we don't chat for a few days at least we can catch up quicker knowing the general large events going on in each other's lives...alright i'm rambling-talk to you soon!

are you guys going to get nailed with capital gains?

ance-not really sure. apparently there are some exceptions (such as moving for school), so we might escape it. we'll see....
