nash's first ouchie

nash fell off the couch today. i didn't even see it coming. wait-yes i did. i watched the whole thing happen. i'm not sure what i was thinking. i saw him slipping, tummy down and feet first off the couch. i saw him stand for a second groping the couch. then i saw him tumble to his bum and saw the back of his head smack floor. i just watched the whole thing happen. i guess for a moment i forgot that he is still a baby. when he landed on his feet i looked at him, thought nothing, then looked back to the computer (i was working on my townhome blog). then it hit me-wait, he can't stand up on his own like that!-but it was too late. down he tumbled. needless to say we both had a good cry (while daddy watched and laughed). i guess it was a not-so-gentle reminder that nash is still an infant and still needs me. sometimes i get so caught up in the big boy-isms (eating with a spoon, holding his own bottle, laughing like a little man) that i forget that. man, i love that kid.

Oh, poor little Nashers. I am sure you have a lot of scrapes and bumps and bruises in your future, so you may want to get used to it. But it is so sad when they get hurt and you can't comfort them for a minute. At least he landed on his feet first and not his head.

I have SO been there. Cache had many little falls, they all do! Now if Cache bonks his head or something, he'll run over and say, "Kiss better?" I don't know why that kiss makes everything better, but it totally does! It never gets easier when they take a tumble, but it sounds like you gave him lots of comfort!...sweet bandage photo, by the way

ha-i wasn't sure if a pirate band-aid was appropriate, but i LOVE it!
i'm sure i'll get used to the bumps and bruises, but as this was his first it was especially traumatizing to see him feel pain for the first time. the shock in his eyes and his poor little sob...just a few days ago i was thinking about how crazy it is that he has gone 6.5 months without being dropped or hit or hurt in some other way (except shots). then WHAMO!

Hey, I wanted to send you my fabric print so you can mess with it and see if you can make it look nicer. What email should I send it to? Also, if you can find a cuter font that would be sweet! Just work your magic is basically what I am asking.

Glad to know Nash has a role-model that isn't babying him and is teaching him to laugh when people get hurt. This is why having fathers in the home is so important.
